Meeting the Challenges of Coastal Ecosystems

Coastal areas have historically been the epicenter of human activity. Estuarine and marine environments support not only commercial, industrial and residential development, but are used extensively for a wide range of recreational pursuits. The mixed demands placed on marine and estuarine environments create not only user conflicts but jeopardize the quality of the resources. Princeton Hydro provides extensive ecological site inventory, engineering assessment and natural resource planning services for all types of marine and estuarine environments. Our staff is exceptionally skilled and experienced in all facets of State and Federal permitting.

We maintain a wide array of field sampling equipment used for water quality investigations, wetland assessments, biological inventories and sediment sampling. This includes multiple boats and sampling platforms, a Marsh Master amphibious vehicle and a full assortment of equipment needed to conduct bathymetric surveys, fish, shellfish and macrophyte investigations, sediment collections and wetland restoration or remediation projects. Our Marine and Waterfront related services include:

  • Fish and shellfish surveys, including habitat quality assessments
  • Essential Fish Habitat studies
  • Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) surveys and mapping
  • Bathymetric surveys
  • Sediment contamination and sediment deposition studies
  • Wetland and sub-tidal habitat mitigation, creation and restoration
  • Geotechnical surveys and coastal engineering studies
  • Environmental risk analyses related to harbor and marina dredging activities
