14th Annual New Jersey Land Conservation Rally
 
Mr. Mark Gallagher, Vice President of Princeton Hydro, will be presenting at the NJ Land Conservation Rally on March, 20, 2010. He will be co-presenting "Three Models of Plant Stewardship: Floristic Quality Does Count!" with Jeannine Vannais of Blowman's Hill WIldflower Preserve, Jaren Rosenbaum of the D&R Greenway Land Trust, and landowner Harry McGarrity. The full day conference features workshops, roundtable discussions and a field trip discussing timely topics in land conservation practices. Registration is required. Chester Ridley Crum Watershed Association Meeting
 
Mr. Mark Gallagher, M.S. in Plant Ecology and Vice President of Princeton Hydro, will be speaking at the Ridley Crum Watershed Association meeting on February 7, 2010. The meeting will take place at the Tomezsko Building Auditorium, Penn State Brandywine, 25 Yearsley Mill Road, Media PA, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Mr. Gallagher will present his paper, "Natural Landscaping of Stormwater Basins". Event is free to the pulic. 2010 Schuylkill Watershed Conference
 
James Shallenberger, P.G., and Fred S. Lubnow, PhD, will be giving presentations at the 2010 Schuylkill Watershed Conference, which will be held at the Montgomery County Community College, West Campus in Pottstown, PA on the 13th of March, 2010. Mr Shallenberger will be a co-speaker on a presentation on Water Monitoring and the Marcellus Shale, while Dr. Lubnow will be speaking on quantifying the reductions in phosphorus associated with using non-phosphorus lawn fertilizers. PALMS 2010
 
Two members of Princeton Hydro, James Shallenberger, P.G. and Fred S. Lubnow, PhD, will be giving presentations at this year's Pennsylvania Lake Management Society (PALMS) at State College on March 3rd and 4th, 2010. Mr Shallenberger will be speaking on water monitoring strategies relative to the potential impacts of Marcellus shale drilling activities, while Dr. Lubnow will be speaking on the implementation of watershed-based Management Plands for lake ecosystems. 2010 Keystone Coldwater Conference
 
Princeton Hydro's James Shallenberger, P.G. will exhibit a poster at the 2010 Keystone Coldwater Conference that will be held February 19th and 20th at The Pennstater Conference Center in State College, PA. Mr. Shallenberger's poster is titled "Monitoring Strategies and Gas Drilling in the Marcellus Shale". This year's conference agenda is "Responsible Energy Development: Protecting Coldwater Resources", and is geared towards non-profits, watershed associations, sportsmen, consultants, agency represetatives and academics. Rutgers Announces 2010 Pond Design, Management and Maintenance Seminar
 
On 30 April, the Rutgers University, Office of Continuing Professional Education, will hold a one-day pond course, conducted by Dr. Stephen Souza, Mark Gallagher and Geoffrey Goll, P.E.. The couse covers the proper design, maintenance and management of all types of ponds including stormwater basins and irrigation ponds. The course starts with proper design and construction, addresses control of invasive aquatic plants and algae, and includes details on aquascaping applications for the correction of eroded shorelines, creation and enhancement of fish habitat, nutrient and pollutant removal, and goose control. ESRI GIS Conference, December 9, 2009
 
Princeton Hydro is pleased to announce that a paper written by Mr. J.P. Bell, GISP, titled "GIS and Modeling; Providing Cost Effective Solutions" as been selected for presentation at the upcoming Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Mid-Atlantic User Group Annual Conference. The conference will be held on December 9, 2009 at the Radisosn Hotel in Valley Forge, PA. Mr. Bell's presentation will detail how GIS is utilized within Princeton Hydro to provide technically sound solutions within a highly cost-efficient framework. Mr. Bell's presentation is part of the "Track 2: Natural Resources/Public Works" papers scheduled for early afternoon on the 9th.
 
The ESRI Mid-Atlantc User Group (ESRI-MUG) is a multi-disciplinary organization with a membership base of users applying geographic information system technology and applicaitons in both private and public areas. ESRI-MUG is committed to assisting members to identify and educate users regarding GIS trends, ESRI product development, local/regional applicaitons, and events of interest

Tyler Overton wins 2009 SePRO Ultimate Applicator Award

We are proud to announce that Tyler Overton was the individual winner of the 2009 Ultimate Preferred Applicator Challenge held at this year's seminar at SePRO's Research and Technology Campus in North Carolina. At this 2-day aquatic skills training course, Tyler competed against 100 other participants accumulating points at 10 different learning and game stations. Tyler earned one of two final spots, winning a close final Ultimate Applicator Challenge held at the seminar's dinner banquet.

Rutgers Continuing Education Lake Course, Rutgers EcoComplex, Bordentown, NJ
 
Dr. Stephen Souza, President of Princeton Hydro, will be coordinating once again this comprehensive two day lake management and restoration course. The course provides an introduction to lake ecology and covers all the technical aspects of the major means used to manage and restore lakes including dredging, aeration, chemical weed/algae control, alum treatments, and biomanipulation. Other Princeton Hydro staff serving as presenters includes Mr. Mark Gallagher, Mr. Geoffrey Goll, P.E., Dr Fred Lubnow, Mr. Keithe Merl, P.E., and Dr. Clay Emerson.
 
Pennswood Wins another award!
 
At the recently held Villanova Urban Stormwater Partnership Conference it was announced that the Pennswood Stormwater Management system garnered the Partnership's 2009 Best Management Practices Award. Princeton Hydro is proud to once again be part of the design team responsible for the creation of this truly unique regional stromwater management system. The Pennswood system has received both national and international recognition. It has been the recipient of numerous awards and has been cited in various publicaitons from around the globe.

North American Lake Management Society, 29th International Symposium
 
Princeton Hydro will be presenting two papers at the upcoming NALMS conference. The papers, one authored by Dr. Fred Lubnow and the other by Chris Mikolajczyk, are based on work recently completed as part of lake restoration projects at Lake Hopatcong and two lakes in Burlington County, NJ. Princeton Hydro is a long time supporter of NALMS and Corporation of the Year winner. We will also have a booth and display at the conference, sponsor the 5K run and use the venue to introduce our New England and New York lake clients to our Clastonbury, CT office.

New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management 5th Annual Conference
 
NJAFM will hot its annual conference at the Palace at Somerset park in Somerset, NJ. This year's focus will be on how to address flooding with local and state budget woes.

Our Associate Water Resources Engineer, John Miller, PE, CFM, helped organize the conference this year and will be introducing the conference opening speaker, William Dressel, Executive Director of the New Jersey State League of Municipalities, as well as moderating one of the sessions.

A comprehensive report dealing with the status and restoration/management needs of New Jersey's coastal lakes is available through the Monmouth University Urban Coast Institute by means of the following link

Dr. Stephen Souza, President of Princeton Hydro was a major contributor to this important report authoring the recommendations section of the report (Chapter IV). Rutgers Lake Management Course - 5-6 November 2009
 
Dr. Stephen Souza, President of the Princeton Hydro will again coordinate and conduct the Rutgers Office of Continuing Education Two-day Lake Management Course. The course covers a number of important topic areas dealing with the management and restoration of lakes, including the development of a lake management plan, dredging, aeration, alum applications, aquascaping and weed/algae control options.
