Mechanical Harvesting to Avoid Pesticide Applications
Westtown School hired Princeton Hydro to harvest aquatic plants in the school's lake. Our Truxor DM 5000, a multi-functional amphibious vehicle, conducted the harvest, which is part of a larger initiative at Westtown to restore and maintain the lake without using aquatic pesticides and other chemicals. Head of School John Baird said the environmentally-friendly aquatic harvest is consistent with Westtown's ongoing commitment to the environment in both its academic program and operational practices, pointing to the school's sustainability mission statement which calls for creating a community that preserves and protects ecological systems.

Barnegat Bay Bill Package
17 August 2010
The Senate Environment Committee approved a package of bills to improve the environmental quality of the Barnegat Bay. The bills include soil restoration and compaction mitigation requirements post-construction; new standards for the application and content of fertilizer in New Jersey; establishment of a stormwater management system pilot project in Ocean County; and the development of a stormwater and nonpoint pollution management plan for the watershed.
Senator Smith said the following of the pilot project: “During a heavy rainfall, the more than two thousand stormwater basins throughout the county are deluged, and cannot filter the rain water fast enough. As a result, these basins spill out into bay, and contribute to the nonpoint source pollution which is wreaking havoc on the environment. Through this bill, we can restore these stormwater basins to allow them to do the job for which they were created.”
Princeton Hydro’s Dr. Stephen Souza was proud to provide testimony on behalf of the American Littoral Society in support of the fertilizer bill and provide consultation services to the Society in the technical review of all the bills. Announcing our new Truxor DM 5000 Amphibious Vehicle!
Princeton Hydro, LLC is excited about our newest amphibious vehicle: the Truxor DM 5000. The size of a large pickup truck, it is relatively light, produces very low ground pressure and is highly maneuverable. The Truxor doesn't require a boat ramp or even a stabilized launch area, enabling it easy access and deployment into just about any size pond and giving it big advantages over larger, conventional weed harvesters and hydro-rakes. The major benefit of the Truxor is that it represents a non-pesticide approach for the control of invasive weed and problematic algae growth. Able to operate in water and on land, and maneuver in small waterbodies, it can quickly address major infestations without the potential side effects of large-scale treatments (specifically fish kills) and provide weed and algae control without the delay of permits.
