Civil Engineer - Entry Level


Princeton Hydro, LLC is seeking a full-time, entry-level Civil Engineer for immediate hire to be located in our Sicklerville, New Jersey office (20 mins east of Philadelphia). The ideal candidate will be a resourceful, team player who would love to work on water resource and geotechnical projects, including stormwater management, river and stream restoration, dam removals, hydrologic & hydraulic modeling, lake restoration, flood risk management, wetlands restoration and mitigation, and coastal resiliency projects.  Job responsibilities include:

  • Preparing various engineering reports; Perform technical analyses and calculations (i.e., soil bearing capacity, shallow and deep foundation design, various earth retaining system designs, and development of SWM recommendations, etc.);
  • From time-to-time perform various construction oversight or field work activities (e.g., dam inspections, subgrade, foundations, earthwork, stormwater management facilities, concrete, pavement, masonry, etc.);
  • Assist with preparing project design plans, technical specifications, engineer’s estimates, and complete critical-path project schedules;
  • Assist with various aspects of dam compliance, dam rehabilitation design, shoreline protection, and other geoscience design type projects;
  • Utilize various software applications as needed;
  • Working directly with the Sicklerville staff to ensure 1) the delivery of a quality product, 2) meeting project schedules, and 3) client satisfaction;
  • Working with the staff of the Princeton Hydro team to advance the firm’s reputation as an innovative organization;
  • Travel to other offices, as needed;


  • BS or MS in Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical, Bioenvironmental, or other related degree from an ABET accredited university;
  • 0-5 years of applicable progressive work experience;
  • Preference will be for candidates who possess a current Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certificate;
  • Independently solve engineering problems, concerns, or conflicts and take-on a project ownership role;
  • Basic to moderate experience preparing project design plans, technical specifications, engineer’s estimates, and complete critical-path project schedules;
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills;
  • Possess a willingness to learn, be mentored, and develop professionally;
  • Work both independently and as a key component of our team;
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.;
  • Possess a valid driver’s license


  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD to develop design plans;
  • Experience with hydrologic (HMS, HydroCAD) and hydraulic (HEC-RAS – steady and unsteady flow) modeling ;
  • Experience utilizing GIS (for use in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling);
  • Experience in Total Station and/or GPS surveying;
  • Willingness to perform various field work as needed to collect data, provide construction observation services, and assist in implementation of projects for our field services practice area;
  • Passionate, energetic and able to apply your experience in the areas of project/program management and engineering
